Narrative
Two were seriously injured, and one was dead following a head-on crash on U.S. 65 in Springfield at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3. Missouri State Highway Patrol said the driver of Traffic Unit 1 did not negotiate a curve. As a result, this caused her to travel off the road, cross the median, and hit the driver of Traffic Unit 2 head-on. The driver of Traffic Unit 2, 18-year-old Madison Rues, and the driver of passenger Unit 2, 49-year-old Andrew Rues, were taken to Mercy Hospital for serious injuries. The driver of Traffic Unit 1 was identified as Jennifer Hood, 30, of Carl Junction, Missouri. Hood succumbed to fatal injuries.
