Police say that for unknown reasons, a southbound vehicle entered the northbound side of the bridge and crashed into a northbound SUV.
The impact of the crash pushed the SUV through the guardrail and into Truman Lake.
Both drivers were unrestrained and succumbed to their injuries. Authorities have not yet released the names of the victims.
Officials closed the bridge over Truman Lake while crews worked to recover the submerged SUV and to clear the wreckage from MO-7.
A full investigation is underway.
