Narrative
AVENUE CITY, MO – One person died, and another went to the hospital Thursday following a wrong-way crash along the highway in south-central Andrew County.
The accident happened in the morning on Highway 169 in Avenue City. This is about 60 miles north of Kansas City.
Police say that a northbound vehicle entered the southbound lanes of Highway 169 while attempting to pass a slower car. The northbound vehicle collided with a southbound vehicle.
Medics transported both drivers to the hospital. The driver of the northbound vehicle, identified as Joshua Pike, died after transport.
The extent of the other man’s injuries is unknown.
A full investigation is underway.
